Christian Aid

Christian Aid plays an important role in the mission of the churches in Kings Langley, and is actively supported by Christ Church Baptist, alongside All Saints Parish Church, and the Methodist Church. Inspired by the gospel message of hope and God's love for all people, Christian Aid works to tackle poverty and injustice around the world. They believe we have a prophetic role, speaking out against the structures that keep people in poverty, while also fundraising to respond to emergencies and support people in becoming self-sufficient.

At Christ Church Baptist, our involvement with Christian Aid is led by Paul Tucker (pictured below), Chair of the Kings Langley Christian Aid Committee.

The local Christian Aid group here in Kings Langley is very active! We write letters to MPs, campaign on issues such as climate change, and take part in fundraising throughout the year. Our local committee also organises events like a "Simple Meal" and coordinates the well-known door-to-door collections and other activities around Christian Aid Week in May. A recent example of our fundraising is the Christian Aid Christmas Appeal 2025, which raised £11,735.17 (including Gift Aid), and we give thanks for everyone’s generosity, prayers, and support.

A key part of Christian Aid’s work is partnering with trusted local organisations. They do not send staff overseas; instead, funds raised are channelled through local people and groups who best understand their communities and are able to respond effectively in times of crisis and beyond.

Founded by the churches of Britain and Ireland, Christian Aid now works in around 50 countries worldwide, including Afghanistan, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Colombia, Nigeria, Kenya and Brazil.

You can visit their website to find out more about their work and ways to get involved. You can also subscribe to their emails to stay up to date with the latest news, events, and stories from Christian Aid.

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 10:30am. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival, and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10:30am with a warm welcome from one of our team members. Then follows a time of songs and hymns, prayers, Bible reading and a sermon. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

After the service, we serve tea, coffee, squash and biscuits in the church hall. It is a great way to meet people or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

What about my kids?

At the moment, we are developing our children, youth and families work. We have strong midweek groups for children and young people, and are working towards plans and events to grow and develop our Sunday ministry.

We do have a small group that goes out every week.

The first part of our service is focused on all ages.

Leadership

MINISTER: Matt Powell
MINISTER: Matt Powell
Matt joined us here at Christ Church Baptist in October 2025. Matt comes with his wife Tash, and they have two grown up children living in Brentford and Southampton. Matt has been a Baptist minister for 25 years and is passionate about seeing the church being a place for all people to be welcomed, loved and supported; with a passion to share God's amazing love and grace to all those in the community.

In his spare time Matt loves to watch Southend United his football team, enjoys walking and loves cakes and so is looking forward to tasting the wonders of Kings Langley's baking both in the church and in the local coffee shops.

You can contact Matt on 07312 074814

We hope that whoever you are, you will feel at home at our church.
