Coffee Shop/Bookshop

Our Bookshop and Coffee Shop offer a friendly, welcoming space to browse books and gifts, enjoy fairly traded drinks and homemade treats, and connect with others in the heart of the community.

Coffee Shop

The Coffee Shop is open on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday mornings from 10am until 12 noon, with our Friendship Café meeting on Thursday mornings, also from 10am to 12 noon.

The Coffee Shop is a great place to meet up with friends and make new ones, relax and chat over a cup of fairly traded coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc. There is always a good selection of homemade cakes, cookies, etc. that are made with fairly traded ingredients (where possible). We are 'child-friendly', and the toy box is always out.

We would love for you to come and get to know us as friends and a team of people who love the Lord. The coffee shop is an opportunity for us as Christians to open our doors and offer something of value and need to the community. We hope that you will feel that you can drop in throughout the week and find fellowship and prayer support.
Macmillan Coffee Morning
Do come along to enjoy a drink and a slice of cake, relax, and spend time chatting with friends old and new. It would be lovely to see you there!

Bookshop

The bookshop is open on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings, from 10am until 12 noon.

Bookshop works alongside the Coffee Shop and the Friendship Café. We are situated in the foyer at the side of Christ Church Baptist with car parking directly in front. Staffed by a great team of volunteers working in both the bookshop and coffee shop.

You will find a selection of adult and children’s books and bibles and books can be ordered and collected at the shop. There is a great selection of Christian greeting cards as well as general cards, gifts supporting various charities, notebooks, wrapping paper, etc.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 10:30am. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access and a sound loop for anyone who needs it. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival, and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10:30am with a warm welcome from one of our team members. Then follows a time of songs and hymns, prayers, Bible reading and a sermon. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. Sometimes there is an opportunity to receive prayer at the end of the service.

After the service, we serve tea, coffee, squash and biscuits in the church hall. It is a great way to meet people or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

What about my kids?

At the moment, we are developing our children, youth and families work. We have strong midweek groups for children and young people, and are working towards plans and events to grow and develop our Sunday ministry.

We do have a small group that goes out every week.

The first part of our service is focused on all ages.

Leadership

MINISTER: Matt Powell
MINISTER: Matt Powell
Matt joined us here at Christ Church Baptist in October 2025. Matt comes with his wife Tash, and they have two grown up children living in Brentford and Southampton. Matt has been a Baptist minister for 25 years and is passionate about seeing the church being a place for all people to be welcomed, loved and supported; with a passion to share God's amazing love and grace to all those in the community.

In his spare time Matt loves to watch Southend United his football team, enjoys walking and loves cakes and so is looking forward to tasting the wonders of Kings Langley's baking both in the church and in the local coffee shops.

You can contact Matt on 07312 074814
or at mattpowell-minister@christchurchbaptist.co.uk

We hope that whoever you are, you will feel at home at our church.
